Treatment in Constitutional Delay Testing for GH secretion during this period may indicate reduced GH release; whether this represents permanent GH deficiency, or a temporary deficiency due to lack of gonadal steroids at an appropriate age, is not clear. Although some clinicians are presently treating such patients with androgen and GH, others simply feel it appropriate to wait until the phase of poor growth ceases and the pubertal growth spurt occurs (Fig. 13.20). Recent data indicate no increase in adult height with GH treatment of such subjects.
